Recipe for Procrastination

If you really stop and think, I'll bet you have your own physical, mental and emotional recipe for a lot of things.  Irrational anger, frustration, joy, love, and, today's subject: Procrastination.
In my opinion, procrastination is one of the most powerful, and most under-the-radar of self-imposed limitations.  You should pay the cable bill, but you don't.  You should file your taxes, but you don't.

Why?

You don't have time for youtube, for browsing craigslist, and yet, there you are.  Shouldn't you be cleaning your desk?  Why do we do these things when we know better?

Well, the short answer is self discipline, and the association of pain towards those activities.  Understandable.

The long answer, however, is quite revealing.

We all have a recipe for all of our actions (procrastination is an action - it is the action of inaction).
If you can discover yours, that could very well be the first step towards annihilating procrastination from your life altogether.

But, as they say, you first must recognize when something is about to happen, in order to prevent or interrupt it.

So what's your recipe?  What happens first?  Do you start thinking "oh man, I have to do..." or, do you do something physical first?  Maybe slouch, or gaze upwards, roll your eyes, sigh or breathe differently...
If you write down your recipe of procrastination, and pay special attention to the very first ingredients; that is, the syntax of thought in relation to your personal recipe, then you will have isolated the very beginnings of this silent killer.

Once you know how you start procrastination, the process of re-wiring your brain is really a lot of fun.
Take a moment, and figure out what your seedlings of procrastination are, then... read on!
